Election Accusations Hit the Fan
A number of people have been calling on me as of late, noting my lack of reporting for the BS coming from the Democratic side of the election camaraderie. So let me make a couple of points in order to provide some perspective.
1 - I'm officially going on the record here as being a left-leaning independent voter. Since I'm voting with the Democrats for the second time in row, i figure it's probably logical to go ahead and call myself a leftist. That's as close as some of you will get to me self-identifying as a Democrat. I'm still a registered independent and damn proud of it but I'm also happy to admit that the Democrats have plenty of full-of-shit moments. But I will add that the neo-con Republican party is much better at the latter since the post-Bush 41 era and beyond. All to say, if you're looking for blog support on this year's Republican ticket, look elsewhere.
2 - The sheer amount of horseshit coming from the McCain/Palin ticket is far in excess of the amount of "laid cable" I ever thought the Bush/Cheney/Rove machine was capable of laying, such that the BS from the Obama/Biden camp doesn't seem to reek as strong by comparison (but still BS no less). See the truth-o-meter chart below from politifact.com.
Barack Obama's statements by ruling:
- * True 49
* Mostly True 29
* Half True 31
* Barely True 17
* False 25
* Pants on Fire 2

3 - When I do call out the crap pulled on the Democratic side (Ted Kennedy & Deval Patrick), nobody gives a shit.
So there you have it. Questions?
As an addendum, allow me to add that i have no issue or quarrel with those who have looked at the McCain plan and simply prefer his policy compared to Obama's. Same goes for those whose values are right-leaning and earnestly believe that McCain/Palin will uphold such values. I applaud you for using your intellect and voting your conscience. I'm only taking issue with those who are voting for McCain simply because they are "scared of an Arab", or think he is part of a Muslim sleeper cell or fill in the blank:___________. The good Lord gave us brains. Let's put them to good work this election cycle.

don't forget "scooters", "vacation" or "fall"
Dr. James.
I have to agree with you regarding voting with our brains.
Countless times, when I speak with people here in the blue state of CT and ask their political leaning they answer Left/Obama/Dem. When I ask why I get answers like: Because my dad did. Because they are for the little guy. Because I think Obama is handsome. (none of these are made up.)
When I challenge them with facts, policies, statements, plans, they don't want to hear it. They are content being uninformed voters. Nothing about the political process frustrates me more. I propose a test before you vote. I've come up with two questions, we could ask either one.
"How many US Senators are from your state?"
or
"Please state one platform/belief/view/policy etc for the candidate for which you will be voting."
Easy. Informed.
While I might think that the people who logically are voting for Obama are mistaken, that's for another comment.
Thanks for you honesty. Happy voting.
Just one question for you...
With the different branches of government being designed to provide checks and balances for each other, does it not concern you that there would be a liberal rule in the House, Senate, Executive Office and (depending on how you view it) the Supreme Court as well?
yo yo my buddy Marc...
If i could add a question or two to your eligibility test they would be as follows:
1 - Place your finger on the country of Iraq on the following world map.
2 - Place your finger on the country of Afghanistan on the following world map.
3 - Place your finger on the state in which you currently reside on the following US map.
How's that?
To answer your last question, yes, i do find it troubling that we may have one single party governing all three branches of gov't. No checks and balances. Assuming the executive and legislative branches fall to the Dems, the judicial branch isn't necessarily going to fall in line (but likely).
Granted, when the Dems had it from 1993-95, i think most Americans fared better than when the the Reps had it from 2001-2007 (middle clas tax cuts passed under clinton during this time by 1 vote, which helped my family tremendously). But that could just be my confirmation bias.
Ooo! There's another voting question sure to wipe millions off the rolls! -> 4) Name the 3 heads of our 3 respective branches of Gov't.
I'm just frightened of how many stupid people are out there-like that McCain woman who thinks Obama is an Arab, for example. These people are backwards hillbillies, willfully ignorant, and it's never occurred to them to do some research on their own.
now now the far right mccainers can be out there a little, but so can the lefty obamanites. here is a great clip from our wonderful howard stern.

Dan, you watch Howard Stern?
here is my test.
1. Name as many of your favorite characters from any Reality TV show.
2. Name as many persons in the federal government not counting the current President and VP.
Now subtract number of persons from question 2) from the number of characters you listed in question 1).
=/> +1 : well done. you may now feel superior to any of those in the below categories.
0 : you can vote but you need to read the paper once a week.
=/> -1 : here you go, you get the special blue ballot. (to be deposited in the circular file).
no, we don't have cable!
Agreed, voting for Obama but scared of an all-liberal government. I'm voting republican for the house & senate because A) I prefer those particular candidates, and B) I want a bit of check and balance.
I'll probably post more on this sometime on my own blog, but first, I think the best thing that could happen to the GOP is an all-Dem government, because hopefully the republicans would sort themselves out and come back in 2010.
Second, unfortunately the phrase 'checks and balances' tends to be interpreted by both parties as 'character assassination', which I hope changes at some point.
